Bustin' Some Rhymes

So, on my long run of the week I like to contemplate things.......the meaning of life, what I'll be wearing the next day, what I need to shop for on-line......you know. Important things: Where is that road to being a good person I was looking for the other day?? You get the idea.

Well, last weekend I was jamming to my uber cool running mix which you better believe includes Jay-Z. Have I mentioned that our romance back from the Hard Knock Life days has been rekindled? As his voice soothed my soul, I was trying to picture Jay-Z sitting down to write some songs............and I started laughing out loud. I mean, does he list out words that rhyme? Is he pulling out his pocket thesaurus?? I'm just having a hard time picturing this! I think it must just come out perfect when he goes to the studio the first time. That is the only way it can work out in my mind.

I used to write poetry in high school, which colors my ideas about brainstorming and writing or doing anything creative. Cheers to Jay-Z for beating me at this process. I never tried to rap though. Maybe that's easier. I should add free-style rapping to my list of goals I have going. More amusing things for you to read about.

Pretty sure I'll need to pick the optimal time to test out this free-style rapping, like, oh, I don't know, maybe during an interview. I will be going on lots of those soon. My future employers will need to know that I'm creative. Perfect way to show them! Or maybe I should do it at HEB the next time I go and almost die by being stampeded in the dairy section. Those people are on a MISSION I tell you. I have been trapped there on multiple occasions. I'm sure if I were rapping at people they might make a path for me, my eggs and my milk.

I'm not lying when I say that I observed a very painful first date on Millionaire Match Maker which included a free style rap from the girl to the guy. He decided she was crazy. Maybe I'll be better than her.

Well, I should go review common rhymes and do some brainstorming so I'm ready when the perfect opportunity presents itself. Does that negate the free-ness of the styling? I'm going with no.

Until next time!!

More Peanut Butter

First, I have a revision to the Peanut Butter Life Theory. My mom would have you watch Crazy/Beautiful in your quest for understanding the meaning of life i.e. everything is made of peanut butter. This would be a great movie about the meaning of life and true love, except that Kirsten Dunst's hair looks like it was dipped in a vat of oil and she literally never wears a bra in the entire movie. Both of these points distract me from the great story line.

Second, I have an addition to the Peanut Butter Life Theory. You could also watch 500 Days of Summer, which I have already shamelessly admitted my obsession and love for. If you haven't followed my directions yet, you still have time. Go watch it.

Side point while we are on the peanut butter thing: let it be known that food ratios are key and very dear to my heart. You know where I'm going with this...........My ideal peanut butter sandwich is 2:1:1, bread, peanut butter and jelly, respectively. Don't over jelly me.

Finally, tomorrow is MONDAY......dreaded. If I could work at Empire Records for one day, tomorrow would be that day. Can you see it? If I had photoshop on my computer, this image would be even more helpful with your visualization.

My book is calling me, as is my bed. Until next time!

Left-Handed Cooking

I just made an entire batch of my grandmother's homemade chocolate chip cookies. Hello, Susy Homemaker! However, I imagine less hitches going down in her kitchen when cookie production occurs than were going down in mine. It's all good though. I have neosporin for the burns and have successfully cleaned the kitchen and done the dishes with my left hand. Let's just say I'm not ambidextrous by any means. I hope my dear husband has enjoyed his official job offer cookies. They came with a price. Who needs pointer, middle-man, and ring-finger on their right hand?? Merely a tiny sacrifice in order to celebrate one-half of the Sandidge family landing a real job and putting the hard-earned degree to use!

About being ambidextrous, that was my dream as a small child. Some kids want to be the president, some kids want to be an astronaut, or even desire to have super-hero powers...........but no. Not me. I found ambidexterity fascinating. I seriously practiced writing with my left hand all the time. "Did I eventually improve at this task?"you ask. Answer: no. I don't know why or how I came to think being able to be both-handed would be so amazing, but I totally did.

Well, I'm off to eat cookies and ride Matt's coat-tails all the way to Houston! And, let's be honest. I'm probably going to practice signing my name with my left hand a few times before bed.

Until next time!!

Peanut Butter

Everything is made of peanut butter. Unpacking this statement for you will be difficult. So.........I'm not gonna. Meh, call me lazy. You people will figure it out on your own. This is merely a life philosophy my mom and I live by.

Please refer to my SIL's blog for some insight into this. And possibly, oh, I don't know, read The Catcher in the Rye or watch Fight Club. Side note, my mother would disagree and tell you to watch Life as a House and read The Prince of Tides. Actually, you should read Ecclesiastes. That's actually the best way to understand that NOTHING MATTERS; and everything is made of peanut butter.

It really frees some things up and lights up a flame of passion at the same time for me. Nothing matters in terms of society and the world, expectation and obligation; all peanut butter. What is real and what matters is what is inside your brain, heart, soul.......etc. There. I unpacked it a little bit - just the trunk of the car. I'll leave you to your life and, luckily, I saved the U-haul for you to unpack!

Sometimes I get out of bed and think to myself "Everything is peanut butter." Simple! I got this!!

Until next time!

Inspiration Found Me

If Jack Osborne can do it, why can’t I? Maybe I’m behind the times, but the last thing I remember hearing about Jack Osborne was that he went to rehab……..I missed the part which occurred after when he did a British reality TV Show called Adrenaline Junkie and lost a ton a weight while doing extreme things in crazy places around the world. Hot DAMN! I might even venture to say that he became cute!

Surfing, mountain climbing, running with the BULLS, martial arts training - just to name a few of the insane things he went on a quest to accomplish. He didn’t even stop with the sheer adrenaline and sense of accomplishment for himself. No, no. He went looking for that road I was talking about earlier. You know, the one that leads to being a good person? I think he found it somewhere in Europe, but that’s beside the point! He took some kids on season 3 or something and MENTORED them. Let me just say that I am feeling a bit INSPIRED here. SO! Here we go. I’m about to be predictable and make a list of goals I would like to accomplish…………No. To hell with that! I’ll just let you know when I do something list-worthy.

Here is the first one for you. I’m currently training for a half marathon, which will take place on April 25, 2010. Stay tuned to hear about me learning to snow board which will be taking place in May, and what will be especially entertaining for you will be reading about me learning to break dance by the year’s end. You're welcome.

Until next time!!!

Good-bye Julia Mancuso, Apolo Ohno & Bode Miller

Well, the Vancouver Olympics have come to a close. I feel like I have been broken up with. I don't know what I'll do with my time which was formerly devoted to figure skating, skiing, bobsledding and the like. I guess it is for the best. Me and the Olympics have been drifting anyway. I didn't even watch the speed skating on Friday night, because I was busy running a 5K. Times change, people drift, they move on to better things...................................Like made for TV movies on MTV.

Yes. That's right. I'm watching Turn the Beat Around. It is shades of Flash Dance, Step Up and Center Stage. Classic dancing movie. Quality, to say the least. I mean, hello. Made. For. TV. Movie. What more could you ask for on a chill Sunday night?

Other than trying to fill the void in my heart where the Winter Olympics belong, I am basking in the success of a pristine and tidy apartment. I don't remember the last time all the laundry was clean and put away. MAN! I'm excited right now. Sippin' on some hot tea, curled up on the couch. This whole Sunday-not-being-depressing thing is really working for me. Maybe I should tackle Monday mornings next...............but not tomorrow. I'll let it ride for a few more weeks.

Until next time!!

9 Thoughts for Thursday

1. Watching the 2010 Winter Olympics makes me feel like I'm part of something bigger. I have successfully logged ABOUT 40 hours on the Watching the 2010 Winter Olympics Log - this week alone. It's fantastic. And I don't really care about anything else going on in the world.

2. Friends are the stuff of life. I went shopping with the office girls today at lunch. Who needs food? Just kidding. Don't for one minute think I'm hardcore enough to ever skip a meal.

3. Goal setting is very healthy and necessary if one is on the road to being a good person; henceforth, I have set some goals for myself. Goal number one: wear dress clothes to work for a full week. I have no real goals. Don't be fooled. I'm not necessarily on the road to being a good person. I'm merely in the neighborhood. And even then, I just hang out and then go home.

4. Writing without the word "I" is more interesting. My next goal is to start a point with anything other than the word I. Ha! I already accomplished my goal. Maybe I'm a good person after all. (I got carried away with this goal and went back and changed thoughts 1-3 so they did not in fact start with I)

5. ee cummings has written some great poetry. Let point number 6 exemplify this.

6.
a great

man
is
gone.

Tall as the truth

was who: and
wore his(mountains
understand

how)life

like a (now
with
one sweet sun

in it,now with a

million

flaming billion kinds
of nameless

silence)sky;

7. What will ee cummings say about me in the poem he writes me when I'm gone? More goals: wear my life like a mountain wears the sky. That will make a better poem.

8. It is both hard and easy at the same time to live deliberately. Even more goals: figure out what number 8. might mean for me. I feel like that might help with the living deliberatly thing. Does this mean I have to find that road to being a good person again? Last time I checked, that road wasn't on the latest version of the map I downloaded on my GPS.

9. Snickers rock. The ratio of nougat to chocolate to caramel to nuts couldn't be better. Let the record show that fun size preserves that perfect ratio, where mini size does not.

Until next time!
